Daycares

Many working families in Schenectady County depend on daycare centers to care for their children while they are at work. Schenectady County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division is responsible for regulating specific aspects of daycare facilities licensed or registered with the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) under the New York State Department of Family Assistance,  Environmental Health also provides consultation services to daycare operators to ensure that its facilities are safe and in compliance with the New York State Public Health Code.

The Environmental Health Division Responsibilities Include:

Lead Paint
Hazards

 

Schenectady County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division DOES NOT license or register daycares. If you need a license or registration to operate a daycare, refer to the Office of Children and Family Services under the New York State Department of Family Assistance.

  • Go to the Schenectady County Secure Portal, create an account for Schenectady County or log in
  • Click on Requests at the top of the page and select Daycare Health Inspection Request
  • Complete the form
  • Pay by debit, credit card, or e-check (if applicable)
