Get Your Schenectady County Soil & Conservation District Permit Card Today!

Start recycling and composting today with Schenectady County.  A yearly permit card is required to use the Compost and Recycling Facility. Permit Cards are available to Schenectady County and Out-of-County residents and businesses.

Out-of-County Residents & Businesses

We accept Cash, Check, Credit Cards, & Debit Cards. All Permits are valid for one calendar year.

Residential

  • Free Yard Waste Disposal*

*Limited to twelve visits or twelve yards per permit card. Additional permit cards may be purchased. 

Commercial

  • Affordable Yard Waste Disposal*

*Commercial yard waste is subject to an additional tipping fee.  Schenectady County businesses pay $10.00/cu.yd. Out-of-County businesses pay $14.00/cu.yd.

All Compost & Recycling Permit Cards are valid for one calendar year (January 1 - December 31). Additional permit cards  may be purchased to extend yard waste access.

Permit Cards are not replaceable. You may purchase a new Permit Card at the Compost and Recycling Facility. 

 

Compost & Recycling Services at the Schenectady County Recycling Center

Accepts yard waste and most household recyclables.

Accepts appliances, lawn mowers, various metals, tires, and more.

Accepts most electronic items, including TVs, computers, and batteries.
