Sentencing of Anibal Madera

District Attorney

Schenectady County District Attorney Robert M. Carney announced that today in Schenectady County Court, Anibal Madera (DOB:  4/13/93) was sentenced upon his conviction for the crime of murder in the second degree to a term in state prison of 18 years to life for shooting El-nahcere Vincent to death in front of the Star Liquor Store at 1142 State Street on September 25, 2022.  The life sentence was imposed by the Honorable Mark Caruso, Acting Schenectady County Court Judge following Mr. Madera’s guilty plea entered on May 5, 2022.  

At the sentencing a victim impact statement submitted by the family of Mr. Vincent was read by DA Carney at their request.  A copy of that statement is posted below.

When asked if he wanted to speak at the sentencing, Mr. Madera said that he wanted the family of Mr. Vincent to know he was sorry.  The defendant was represented by Assistant Conflict Defender Brian Mercy.   For further information contact District Attorney Carney at 518-708-3041.
