Discount Available for Active Military, Retirees, and Veterans
Schenectady County announced registration is now open for Run the Runway, a 5K race to be held at the Schenectady County Airport on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. The event will also feature a one-mile fun run for kids. Active military, retirees and veterans will receive a discount on their registration fee.
“Experience the thrill of the airport and all things aviation at our second annual Run the Runway 5K event this fall,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “We’d like to thank the Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) for partnering with us once again to bring this unique experience to our community and look forward to seeing everyone on the runway!”
All sections of the run will be on taxiways and runways that have been resurfaced in the last three years. The course has only approximately 60 vertical feet of total grade change and plenty of space, with the taxiways and runways ranging from 75-150 feet wide.
The event will take place at the The Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) at the Schenectady County Airport, 250 Rudy Chase Drive, Glenville, on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The 5K will step off at 9:00 a.m. with the 1-mile fun run for kids beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. Registration is $30 for the 5K, with active military, retirees, and veterans receiving a discount. Children 12 years and younger may participate in the fun run for FREE.
