Registration Now Open for Schenectady County’s Pedal-Paddle-Run Triathalon

First County Event to be Held Since 2019

The Schenectady County Legislature announced the kick-off event for the County’s 2022 event season will be the Pedal-Paddle-Run, scheduled to take place at Aqueduct Park in the Town of Niskayuna on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 8am. This is the first of many County events to be announces for the upcoming spring/summer season.

Special events, including the Pedal-Paddle-Run, offer residents and visitors unique opportunities to experience Schenectady County’s recreational areas.  

“It’s been over 2 years since we held our last special event, so we’re very excited to announce registration is open for the Pedal-Paddle-Run,” said County Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Tourism & Special Events Committee. “This unique event, which draws people from all over the Northeast to our community, is family-friendly and showcases some of the great outdoor spaces we have right here in our backyard.”

The ”Not Your Typical Triathalon” Pedal-Paddle-Run is a timed event that includes approximately 7 miles of biking, approximately 2 miles of kayaking/canoeing and a 5k run. Participants may compete as individuals or as part of a relay team. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

Early registration is only $25 per participant until April 29, after that the price will increase to $30. Every participant will receive a race shirt and all finishers will receive a medal.

To make the race more accessible, Schenectady County partners with local businesses to offer rental kayaks during the registration process on a first-come, first-served basis. More race information, including a list of local businesses who rent kayaks, course maps, rules and fees, an a link to register online are available at www.schenectadycounty.com/ppr.
