Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) is hosting a free naloxone training and information session for community members on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

SCPHS is hosting a series of in-person trainings and information sessions throughout 2024 to empower community members with the knowledge and skills to address opioid overdose effectively. These sessions provide valuable education on recognizing the signs of overdose, preventative measures, and the administration of Naloxone, equipping attendees with life-saving techniques and access to essential resources in combating opioid-related emergencies. Participants will receive a free naloxone kit and fentanyl/xylazine test strips upon completion of the training.

“Learning to use naloxone can save lives during an opioid overdose,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health, Housing & Human Services Committee. “Training opportunities like these make it easier for community members to gain the tools and knowledge they need to respond effectively and confidently during an emergency.”

Date: Tuesday, July 23, 2024

Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Location: Mont Pleasant Branch Library (Program Room 1), 1036 Crane Street in Schenectady
