The registration deadline for Schenectady County’s Run the Runway 5k race is approaching. Online registration will be open until Wednesday, September 11, and day-of registration will be available starting at 8:00 a.m.

Run the Runway will take place at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) at the Schenectady County Airport, 250 Rudy Chase Drive in Glenville, on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The 5k will step off at 9:00 a.m. with the 1-mile fun run for kids beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. Registration is $35 for the 5k, with active military, retirees, and veterans receiving a $10 discount. Children 12 years and younger may participate in the fun run for FREE.

“Run the Runway is a unique opportunity for our community to come together, stay active, and experience the excitement of racing on an actual airport runway,” said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Empire State Aerosciences Museum to offer free admission to all participants and visitors, making this a day the whole family can enjoy.”

In conjunction with the event, ESAM will offer free entry to the museum all day, allowing participants and spectators to explore the museum’s fascinating exhibits and aircraft displays. This is a great chance to learn more about aviation history and the vital role it has played in our region.

We’re excited to welcome runners, their families, and the entire community to the museum for a day of fitness and fun,” said Dan Wilson, President of the ESAM Board of Trustees. “By offering free admission, we hope everyone can enjoy both the thrill of the race and the rich history preserved within our exhibits.”

Event details, including the course map and parking information, will be updated at www.schenectadycountyny.gov/runtherunway.
