County Legislature Advances Parking Deal to Attract HBO Production Using SUNY Schenectady Lots

(Schenectady, NY) The Schenectady County Legislature passed a resolution through the Economic Development and Planning Committee tonight to allow HeyDey Productions, LLC, working for HBO, to use three parking lots at SUNY Schenectady during the month of August as part of a larger effort to attract another major television production to Schenectady County. The resolution will be considered by the full Legislature at their regular meeting on July 9, 2024.


The production company plans to film in Schenectady's Historic Stockade neighborhood in August, and the parking lots at SUNY Schenectady will be used to stage the filming with support crew and services.


"We are excited about the opportunity to host another major production in Schenectady County," said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. "This filming will not only bring economic benefits to our community but also highlight the unique charm of our Stockade Historic District."


Donna Pennell, Schenectady County Film Commissioner, added, "Having another HBO production in Schenectady County is a testament to our growing reputation as a prime location. We look forward to continuing to attract major projects that benefit our local economy and showcase the beauty of Schenectady County."


The production is expected to bring more than 200 support staff and cast members to Schenectady, Film Schenectady, a part of Discover Schenectady, has played a crucial role in bringing this production to Schenectady County. Film Schenectady has also helped attract other major productions, including HBO Max, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” Showtime, “Three Women,” and Amazon Prime, “Modern Love.”
